BMI View: We have moderated our 2013 growth forecast for non-hydropower renewable energy in South Korea due to a lack of progress in the country's offshore wind sector and slower-than-expected progress on a solar project in Seoul. Our long-term outlook for the non-hydropower renewable sector remains extremely sanguine as conventional sources of electricity in South Korea are experiencing higher costs and barriers. We note that the government is currently formulating the country's fourth master plan to developing renewable energies, and that this could pose an upside and downside risk to our forecasts.
