BMI View: When compared with many of its regional neighbours, Zimbabwe has the potential to have a relatively stable power market, with electricity generating capacity spread across many sources of power: coal, oil and hydropower. However, the country's ageing power infrastructure means electricity generating capacity is severely lacking; in the first eight months of 2012, Zimbabwe experienced a 17.7% deficit on its domestic and commercial energy requirements.
